Manhasset SEPTA and M.A.X. Collaboration
Pilot Summer Program Starting in July

Manhasset Special Education PTA (SEPTA) is proud to announce its collaboration with the Manhasset Afterschool Xperience (M.A.X.) program to pilot the M.A.X. Experience for All Children. The pilot program will begin its first phase during the summer Club M.A.X. session which is held at Shelter Rock school in July.
The M.A.X. Experience for All Children summer pilot provides two special education aides every day from 12 noon until 4pm during the summer Club M.A.X. session. Club M.A.X. is held for four weeks starting Mon, July 6 and running until Fri, July 31. Manhasset SEPTA is providing two aides to facilitate socialization and support special needs children who are attending summer Club M.A.X. program. This new special needs support will allow children to enjoy a summer experience with their peers and classmates while addressing their need for a smaller adult-to-child ratio.
The funds used in this summer pilot are a result of a generous grant from a major New York university, which was facilitated by Manhasset SEPTA Special Projects Director Michele Weingart. The university, which wishes to remain anonymous, has asked that the money be used to support and enrich elementary school-aged special needs children.
The summer Club M.A.X. program continues to accept enrollment for its 2009 program. Please contact Director Roni Jacobson at 627-7130, ext 1, or by email at manhassetafterschoolxperience@yahoo.com. The summer program, as well as all of M.A.X.’s afterschool programs, can be viewed on their website, www.manhassetafterschoolxperience.org.
