Manhasset is home to many businesses, and many business owners. Connie Feiner, owner of Pretty Printing, a custom stationary printing business, is one of those business owners who calls Manhasset home. Last year, Feiner started a fundraiser to support the Manhasset Special Ed PTA (SEPTA) with a percentage of Pretty Printing’s sales being donated to the community organization. With an outstanding turnout from loyal clients, Pretty Printing made a generous donation to SEPTA in 2010.
“We are so grateful for Mrs. Feiner’s efforts and commitment to SEPTA with Pretty Printing’s holiday donation,” Manhasset SEPTA’s Director of Grants and Fundraising, Ann Marie Moschitta stated.
Dedicated to the special needs community and Manhasset SEPTA, Feiner is now working to create a new program for youngsters in the area. Connie Feiner, along with Alex Capra and Ann Maria Moschitta, are developing a play program for children in preschool and the first years of elementary school.
The Special Needs at Play (SNAP) program is a play based parent-n-me class offered to local children who need a more supportive setting to learn play and social skills. With two special education teachers heading the program, SNAP will provide a small structured playgroup to support developing social skills of special needs youngsters. Goals of the program include having participants learn how to initiate and sustain appropriate interactions, participate in small group activities, engage in play with a variety of materials, and function more independently following structure and routine.
The program also works with the parents and caregivers to have them develop a better understanding of how to productively play with their children. Strategies and techniques to connect with children during play will be outlined to the parents participating, as well as general special needs parenting skills, and a chance for parents to network and share resources.
Pretty Printing will be hosting another fundraiser for this program and Manhasset SEPTA in the upcoming months. To learn more about the fundraiser, or to see the line of Pretty Printing stationary, log onto www.prettyprinting.com.
