Manhasset SEPTA’s mission to empower the special needs community with knowledge to ensure every child has the highest standard of educational excellence and quality of life.
Manhasset SEPTA supports the community's special needs population through resources, information, and local networking. The organization provides free monthly expert presentations, free workshops, study groups, public resources, scholarships, and funding for community programs. Topics include special education law, current research and learning approaches, specific disabilities and therapies, and support for family/sibling issues. We address the needs of all thirteen disability classifications, the gifted and talented, and Academic Intervention Services (AIS) for general education students.
Since chartering in October 2007, SEPTA has created a special needs parents section in the public library, established an adaptive sports program for the SCA Saturdays Series, debuted the district’s pocket school calendar, and brought the first Wrightslaw Study group to NY State. SEPTA proudly serves nearly 500 Manhasset special needs families, over 300 Manhasset staff members including teachers, aides, therapy providers and administrators.
We invite you to join Manhasset SEPTA at our monthly expert presentations, free workshops and panel discussions, to visit our special needs parenting section of the Manhasset Public Library, come and join or observe one of our special needs SCA Saturday Series classes or afterschool adaptive classes and school special needs sessions, or to simply email us about what your needs are for your gifted/talented or special education student! And of course, we invite you to join as a member for the upcoming school year—and your input to help serve the Manhasset community.
