Manhasset SEPTA is a local chapter of the National PTA offering members resources from the National, NY State and Nassau Region PTA and a voice with lawmakers in Albany.
SEPTA's mission is to empower the special needs and gifted and talented communities with knowledge and resources to ensure every child has the highest standard of educational excellence and quality of life.
SEPTA supports our community and schools with programs and resources. Last year, SEPTA’s special needs programs included sports and music events, an afternoon social skills group, yoga, and mock college interviews, to name a few. Parents attended presentations on reading skills, assistive technology, homework strategies, social skills and medication interventions. The Gifted & Talented division’s programs have included math, science, coding, music, motorized Lego programs, and languages.
Since chartering in 2007, SEPTA has served as a network for parents seeking information and has also created free resources such as the special needs parenting section in the public library, which includes books and DVDs. Please visit this area in the library located on the 3rd floor (near the play area). You can read or browse the books before deciding which ones to check out, while your child looks through some books or plays.
We welcome all parents and school staff to become members by going to the Join Us page.
